Experiential Education The College of Arts and Sciences' experiential education requirement is described online from the Dean's office. Experiential Education (ExEd) is a key component of a Northeastern education and the College of Arts and Sciences strongly recommends that students partake of as many ExEd opportunities as they can, particularly when the opportunities are related to their chosen discipline. In each major, students fulfill an ExEd requirement, however, this is usually just the beginning of their participation in ExEd. This requirement does not add additional courses to the number needed to complete the degree. Any Psychology course that meets this requirement will also double count toward completing Psychology requirements. During the fall semester of 2008, the option that you choose must be pre-approved by professor Marty Block (164 Nightingale, ext. 3081 or m.block@neu.edu) who is the experiential education advisor for psychology majors for this term. To make an appointment, contact the main Psychology office at 617-373-3076. Your Experiential Education Options are described here. With his help, you will select an option that both fits your experience and that encourages reflective inquiry about it. Since meeting this requirement involves planning, you should, at the very latest, make an appointment to see Professor Block by the end of your middler year. Information about the experiential education requirement is available online or at the dean’s office in 100 Meserve. Please remember that you must consult with Professor Block before choosing an option even if it is on this list. Failure to consult could lead to unnecessary and frustrating delays.
