I am a fourth year graduate student in Professor Judith Hall's social lab working towards my PhD in social psychology. In general, I am interested in how people communicate nonverbally and how accurately others judge those nonverbal cues. In addition to basic research on interpersonally sensitivity and nonverbal communication, I am interested in how these concepts are applied to the doctor-patient interaction. I am currently developing an assessment tool to measure doctors' ability to recognize their patients' emotions and a training program to increase this skill in medical students. I am also interested in patient perceptions of doctors' nonverbal behaviors, particularily in ratings of confidence and competence.
