Mollie Ruben
I am a first year graduate student in Professor Judith Hall’s laboratory working towards my Ph.D. in Psychology. My general research interests focus on nonverbal communication and interpersonal sensitivity. More specifically I am interested in how individual differences such as attachment style can influence interpersonal sensitivity in close relationships. For example, when someone is in physical discomfort or coping with a stressful event, I am interested in the expression of nonverbal cues and how their partner or close other accurately or inaccurately decodes those cues. I am interested in examining the encoding and decoding of nonverbal behavior of physical discomfort among strangers, friends, romantic couples, doctor-patient dyads, and even among coach-player, athletic trainer-player dyads.
